BGCSWVA Launches $10,000 Family Plus Program
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia has received
$10,000 in funding from Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the
Kimberly-Clark Corporation to initiate a Family PLUS program at the 9th
Street Club. Family Plus is designed to build collaborations with parents and
caregivers as partners in the positive development of children. By working with
parents and caregivers in the safe environment of a Club, staff can help
families spend more valuable time together, and promote an integrated network
of support for both families and Club members. When this is accomplished, Clubs
assist in ensuring that families have the opportunities, networks and
assistance needed to realize their aspirations for their children.
Through Family Plus, parents of Club members can:
- Participate
in financial literacy workshops
- Attend
Family Night Out events, fun activities for the whole family
- Receive free tax assistance at the Club from Total Action Against Poverty’s Tax Assistance Project
- Access other parenting workshops and classes from
Mental Health America
and others
Notice of these events will be
provided on this website, so please keep checking back!
